On Friday 13 June 2008 CQU release its media announcement, "Griffin counsels Central Queensland University". Griffin said, "We know, for example, engineering and technology professionals and the demands of those industries will continue to have a real impact in CQ. CQU is, in many instances, at the centre of that by providing employment, enhancing workforce qualifications, accelerating innovation, improving skills and knowledge and attracting skilled labour and service to our community. As a Councillor and expereince Company Director (FAICD) I want to help secure and maintain CQU's leadership and partnership roles with inductry and community."
